Our History
- Tenpin Queensland Inc. came into being in 1972 under the name "Greenslopes Lanes Leagues Association" and adopted the motto "Progress in Bowling".
The first meeting was held on 16th September 1972, at which the Board of Directors was elected.
The membership of the association grew larger each year and in 1979 the name was changed to "Greater (Qld) Lanes Leagues Association" which allowed membership from bowlers in centres other than Greenslopes.- Queensland competed in the F.A.T.B. (now Tenpin Australia Inc) championships and East Coast Challenge Cup for the first time in 1981, at Kedron Bowl.
In 1982 we provided membership to bowlers from Gladstone. This was the first area outside of Brisbane to join our association.
With the expansion of the membership base we moved into our first office at Holland Park in 1987, and acknowledged disabled bowlers as an entity in their own right. - "Greater (Qld) Lanes Leagues Association" was incorporated within the state of Queensland under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981, and changed its name to "Greater (Qld) Lanes Leagues Association Incorporated".
The association continued to thrive and in 1993 the last of the name changes occurred and we became Tenpin Queensland Incorporated.
There have been many changes to the internal workings of the association over the years, but the original idea of providing economic membership and good service to the bowlers has remained with us to the present time.
General Committee meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of January and every 2nd month thereafter. The Annual General Meeting is normally held in March.
